Jennifer Bertoluzzi PT, DPT, OCS

I’m Jen Bertoluzzi, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical specialist (OCS), and a pelvic health therapist.

I’m also a mom, sister, aunt, wife, friend and avid crafter.

Living in and loving West Lafayette, IN.

Thank you for being here and wanting to get to know me and my story- I look forward to meeting you!

Personal Experience

Through my career I’ve worked with women during their pregnancies, post partum experiences, and beyond. It wasn’t until my own pelvic floor challenges that I took a deeper dive into pelvic floor training.

Although I had complaints of untreated pelvic floor dysfunction (eg. pelvic pain, constipation, urinary urgency) for many years, none of my healthcare providers recommended pelvic floor therapy. Like many, my pregnancy and childbirth experiences occurred during the global pandemic. I didn’t have access to a doula or adequate birth prep classes. Only my spouse was allowed in the delivery room, and he had no experience delivering babies either!

My Story Is Your Story…

My experience is not unique. Your struggles were my struggles and they did not improve post child birth! I was sent home with my new baby in tow, a few products to use, and a check up in 6 weeks. I had to be an advocate for myself, pushing to be seen when I knew things weren’t going well in my healing process.

To add to the difficulty, we moved across the country when my little one was only 2 months old. My husband, baby, two dogs and I loaded up and drove! Arriving in our new destination we had no family support and had housing trouble, living on our camping supplies for 2 months! We also faced incredible wait times for healthcare and had a 2-hour drive for any specialty care.

Getting Through to the Other Side

It took months of help from an array of professionals to address my post partum anxiety, insomnia, and pelvic floor dysfunction. I’m so grateful for discovering treatment tools that made a real difference. Cognitive behavioral therapy for Insomnia and Dialectical Behavioral therapy were game changers for me!

How it started

So much to learn

How it’s going!

Reflecting on it all…

I could not have predicted the way motherhood would change me, the capacity I had for growth, or the professional development it would inspire. While I would not wish my post-partum experience on anyone, I am grateful for it, for the lessons it taught me, and the connections I made.

I look forward to being one of those support people for you, to help you navigate these complex waters, and to help you feel empowered by the amazing body that helped you get here.
